I got into film photography in 2015 when I bought an instant camera, and then got an old 35mm stereo camera as a novelty. It’s true that film is addictive because once I started I couldn’t stop. Most of these document the kinds of things I saw when I lived in San Francisco — the easy-to-overlook bits and pieces of the urban landscape that made it such a wonderful and weird place to be. I moved to New Orleans after that and found that there was simply less to photograph because everything there is on display. I wasn’t interested in photographing things that were competing for my attention so I fell out of the habit for a while, but I still like to take a camera out with me when I walk around a city. You never know what you’ll find.
I met this jaunty gal in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2017. Isn’t she handsome?
She was back the following year but with a different message. I think I love whoever lives in this house.
When New Orleans went into lockdown I went out to take some snaps of the French Quarter with a wide-angle camera.

On Columbus Day 2017 someone dramatically improved this statue of the man himself in Pioneer Park, San Francisco.
I’d been at Pioneer Park to photograph the blood red sky as the sun set through the smoke of nearby bushfires.

A mural of a bat in San Francisco by artist Nychos. It’s almost impossible to get a good photo of this thing because, as far as I can tell, it’s been behind this construction fence since it was painted.
